Winding through the Washington/Jefferson National Forest and across the Blue Ridge Mountains, this historic and scenic trail attracts hikers of all ages. Wildflowers abound along the trail which can be accessed at milepost 91 as well as a number of other parkway mileposts. |

The 690,000 acre national forest extends for 218 miles through the Blue Ridge and Southern Appalachian Mountains. Elevations range from 600 to 5729 feet throughout the park, and a wide variety of trees, flowering vegetation, and wildlife thrive here. A major forest wildlife habitat for more than 160 kinds of birds. Hunting and fishing are allowed with required National Forest Stamp. Big game include deer, bear, and turkey. |
